Constituents´ National Monument, Dom. Rep.

San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic
This historical monument is located in a round square at the old entrance of the province of San Cristóbal in the Dominican Republic. It is risen with the solely purpose of maintaining the remembrance of the Constitution of the Dominican people, wich was written in 1844, in this same province. It was also built in order to replace an ancient statue of the Dominican president and dictator Trujillo, who ruled the Dominicans for a 30 years long period.

The Constituents Monument is about 33 concrete figures, placed in 3 groups of 11 figures each group, all of these surrounding in a manner the center of the round square. These 33 concrete figures represent all the 33 men and women who took place in the creation of the first Dominican Constitution of the history. The height of these elements varies, and they go from a low level to a high level, with a registered high of 49 feet (15 meters). Each group of figures has an inscription with the names of the constituents including a reinforced concrete beam crossing individually each group of figures, withstanding the weight of the figures in certain points and adopting a semicircular path all the way of their extension.

Finally, in the center of this monument, the municipal government logo of San Cristobal appears.
